However, this idea was abandoned later due to wind conditions at high altitude. Amongst the investors that invested on the development of this building were Coleman and Pierre Du Pont from E.I Du Pont de Nemours and Louis G. Kaufman and Ellis P. Earl, both from Empire State, Inc. After its successful construction, this building remained as the tallest building in the world for 40 years, only to be surpassed by the height of the World Trade Center as well as the Sears Towers.
