Why would i need a virtual office in Delaware?

Being the second smallest Mid-Atlantic state in the United States, the state of Delaware is only 48 km wide at its widest width, and stretches a length of 161 km. With a total population of only 780,000, about a tenth of the state’s residents are located in Wilmington, the largest city in Delaware. Other populous cities include Dover, which is the state capital, Newark and Milford. With a GDP of $49 billion, the economy of Delaware is prominently contributed by agricultural produce such as dairy products, corn and poultry. These help to fuel the food processing industry. Other important industrial activities in Delaware are the production of paper-related products, chemical products, pharmaceutical products and plastics production. Due to the presence of these industries, many major organizations such as AstraZeneca and DuPont have set up their offices in this state.

Wilmington Virtual Office

The city of Wilmington is located at the north-east section of Delaware and is home to a population of only 71,000 based on a 2004 estimate. Being the most accessible city within Delaware, Wilmington primarily functions as a base for many corporations in the financial industry. Indeed many financial services are located here such as credit card companies and banks. Downtown Wilmington comprises of the area spanning from Martin Luther King Blvd at the south to 11th Street at the north, and Washington Street at the east to Walnut Street at the west. An important street that is lined with commercial buildings and activities is Market Street, where skyscrapers such as the Chase Manhattan Center and the American International Street both at North Market Street are situated.

As Delaware incorporates friendly incentives, such as low property taxes and no sales taxes, many businesses have decided to place their offices in this city. Amongst the corporations located in Delaware’s skyscrapers are legal firms such as Blank Rome LLP and Cozen O’Conner at the Chase Manhattan Center at North Market Street. Even MBNA America has its headquarters in Wilmington along North King Street, which runs parallel to Market Street. Other multinationals such as PNC Bank has their headquarters set up at the PNC Bank Building, which is also located at North Market Street. Thus, having a virtual office or an office space within the vicinity of Market Street or King Street would be a great idea for businesses in the financial and services sectors.

Retail businesses are mainly located within the Market Street mall, which functions as the main focus of downtown Wilmington. Here, retail shops are found in abundance, such as restaurants and specialty stores. Perhaps one of the greatest attractions in the city of Wilmington is the Riverfront Wilmington. Other than retail outlets, there is also a myriad of cultural and sports attractions such as the Delaware Center for Contemporary Art, the Frawley Stadium and the Delaware Sports Museum. Uniquely named restaurants such as Joe’s Crab Shack and Kahunaville are also located within the Riverfront. Essentially, the Riverfront Wilmington is located along the Brandywine and Christina rivers, which has been identified for development under the Riverfront Development Corporation of Delaware. Both of these would be great spots for virtual offices or office space of retail businesses.

Dover Virtual office

As the state capital of Delaware, the city of Dover is home to a population of just over 32,000. In line with its core function, the main activities of this city are mainly government based. Thus, the government is also the largest employer at Dover with facilities such as the Dover Air Force, local City Council, the Greater Dover Arts Council and the Biggs Museum of American Art all setup within Dover. Perhaps the greatest attraction here is the Dover International Speedway where the yearly NASCAR races are held. This has helped pull 150,000 to 200,000 tourists each year to Dover.

Nevertheless, this relative small city has retail businesses primarily dominating its streets. In fact, the major downtown area known as Main Street Dover, spans the area over several streets covering Loockerman Street and South Governors Street. A myriad of businesses are located here, most of which are focused on catering to the needs of the local community. These would include banks such as Citizens Bank and Wachovia restaurants such as My Place Tavern and apparel stores such as Karens High Fashion and Signature Stitches, all of which are at Loockerman Street.

Indeed, with the inclination towards retail stores, Dover would be an ideal place for a virtual office for retail businesses. Specifically, its association with the yearly NASCAR event with visitors from out of town, this makes Dover also a great located for a virtual offices or office spaces belonging to businesses dealing with NASCAR.

Newark Virtual office

As a university city, Newark is home to the University of Delaware with a population of just over 28,000. With this function, most of the business and economic activities here are catered for the government and education sectors or even more specifically, student-related services. With this, much emphasis is placed on housing for the local population, as well as the development of an excellent city transportation system.

As such, Newark’s downtown area is centralized around Main Street, crisscrossing with various major side road turn-offs such as Chapel Street, Haines Street, North College Avenue, South College Avenue and finally branching out into Elkton and New London Roads. A high density of retail establishments line Main Street, consisting of bookstores such as Lieberman’s Bookstore, banks such as Delaware National Bank and PNC Bank, restaurants such as California Tortilla and Subway. Apart from that, the Newark Shopping Centre and the Market East Plaza lie off the eastern end of Main Street. Thus, these locations would be highly suited for a virtual office or office space for retail businesses that cater to the local student community.

Conclusion

Finally, with these 3 major cities within Delaware each equally unique, anyone looking into establishing a virtual office and office space in this state would need to analyze the strengths of each city in order to accurately identify a suitable location. This means association of the business with the existing economic activity as well as the function of the city would be imperative factors. Only then would the virtual office or the office space be set up in the right place for the right purpose.

New Jersey Virtual Business Center

As the fourth smallest state in the country, New Jersey also has one of the highest population densities in the country. With just a state size of only 8729 square miles, New Jersey is home to a more than 8 million people. Indeed, it’s proximity to the states of New York, Philadelphia and Delaware has contributed to its economy and also the high population growth. Major industries that flourish here include the agricultural industry such as the production of fruits and nuts, seafood and diary products. In fact, New Jersey is most renowned for its cranberry and egg plant production. Apart from that, chemical processing is also prominent here, while food processing, equipment manufacturing and tourism function as some of the more important contributors to the economy. Also, one of the greatest activities that New Jersey is renowned for is it’s abundance of oil refineries all of which are situated along the New Jersey Turnpike.

Much of the dense population areas are concentrated on the eastern side of the state, primarily close to the coastal areas. The largest cities here include the city of Newark, Jersey City, Paterson and Elizabeth. Its state capital of Trenton however, only has a population of over 85,000, relatively small in comparison to the other larger cities with population sizes of above 100,000.

Newark Virtual office

The city of Newark is located at the north east section of New Jersey, just 5 miles away from Manhattan, New York. One of the greatest functions of New Jersey would be its port facilities at Port Newark, through which container shipping volume of over $100 billion (2003) is being shipped through this seaport annually. Apart from that, other forms of transportation services are also prominent here in New Jersey, with the city functioning as a hub for rail, sea, air and road transport.

The central business district of Newark is approximately bounded by Highway 280 at the north, West Market Street at the west, Passaic River at the east and the Lincoln Historic District at the south. Major thoroughfares here include Broad Street, West Market Street, Springfield Avenue, Court Street, Raymond Boulevard and Lincoln Park Street. Indeed, this city is an interesting mix of commercial buildings, cultural areas, historical buildings and retail shops.

The bulk of Newark’s commercial buildings are located along Market Street and Broad Street, or along other streets in its vicinity. Some of the most renowned buildings in this city include the National Newark Building, which stands at 465 feet and which is also the tallest building here. It is strategically situated at the intersection of Broad Street and Clinton Street, and was recently restored in the year 2000 since its opening in the 1930s. Amongst the tenants here are Broadview Networks, Cogent Communications, Worldcom, Lawsuites.net and Metromedia Fiber. Thus, this would be an ideal virtual office location for businesses in the technology and legal sectors.

Other prominent skyscrapers in Newark include the 118 Raymond Boulevard, the Prudential Plaza Building at Broad Street and the 80 Park Plaza, also at Raymond Boulevard. These buildings function as the commercial offices to banks such as the Independence Community Bank, utility companies such as Public Service Electricity and Gas Co, and legal firms such as Esq. Law Offices of William E. Frese. In fact, there is an abundance of commercial buildings all over the city, providing business owners with a wide range of choices of virtual offices and office spaces.
