Conclusion

New York is truly an area of great potential, amidst the large and compact areas of financial and business districts within Manhattan and Brooklyn. The three other boroughs consisting of Queens, Staten Island and the Bronx are primarily consisting of clusters of residential neighborhoods, with the Bronx famous for the Yankee Stadium, the New York Botanical Gardens, Fordham University and The Hall of Fame for Great Americans. On the other hand, Queens is the center of hip hop and is where two of New York’s busiest airports, the La Guardia Airport and the John F. Kennedy Airport are located.

Needless to say, business investment is constantly encouraged by the government agencies within New York City. This is why various organizations have been created to provide as much help as they can towards external business investment and development within New York City. For instance, the New York Business Solutions organization has been launched to provide answers to any business questions that may be posed by anyone looking into operating a business from New York. Areas such as trade financing, human resources management, public relations as well as paying taxes and adhering to government regulations, are clearly explained.

Essentially, running a business within New York would require the support of many services, such as accounting services, services from real estate agents and legal services as well. This is why the NYC Department of Small Business Service has also developed a directory the NYC City Guide for Businesses to help business owners new to the New York City environment obtain the information that they need to start their businesses with the least hassle. Apart from that, a string of workshops are provided NYC Business Solutions to provide adequate education to business owners through Economic Development Corporations and other entrepreneur related agencies throughout the five boroughs. This is also where networking sessions, workshops to educate business owners on growing their businesses as well as financial and investment education.

Apart from that, the New York Economic Development Corporation is aimed to provide a variety of facilities specifically to help new businesses. This comes in the form of 50 business incentive programs for business owners, all of which are within the categories of Financing, Tax Benefits, Advice, Staffing, Energy, Real Estate, Import / Export and even Government Contacts. Furthermore, there is also a list of resources provided specifically for New York business owners, in order to assist them in the many challenges that they may face while operating a business in New York. These would include articles, information on regulations, tips for acquiring financing as well as tips on selling to New York City Government Agencies.

All of these work collaboratively to ensure that New York City is as conducive as possible especially for foreign businesses to launch their centers here. This is probably one of the reasons why New York City continues to sustain its reputation as the major financial district in the United States. Therefore, having a virtual office or an office space in the heart of New York City would provide any company with an international reputation and presence within one of the largest financial capitals in the world.

Broadway

Another prominent street in Manhattan is the area around Broadway, the center of the American theater industry. Originally named by the Dutch as Breede weg, Broadway stretches throughout the entire Manhattan Island. However, one of the most outstanding stretches of Broadway is the section where Broadway intersects with 7th Avenue, within Midtown Manhattan. This is where Times Square is as well as many of the Broadway theaters are located, and where most of the Broadway singers and dancers can be found. Many actors and actresses have gained fame from starring Broadway musicals, which is why businesses focuses on Broadway musicals should be centered within the vicinity of this area.

On the other hand, Times Square was previously named after the New York Times where the office of this renowned newspaper was once located. Today, the whole area of Times Square consists of four blocks of buildings and constitutes the western section within Midtown Manhattan. Amongst the world-famous companies with a presence in this area is the major studio of ABC, as well as a myriad of restaurants, specialty stores, movie theaters and also companies involved the financial, publishing and media industries.

Also, financial giants such as Morgan Stanley and one of the Big Four accounting firms, Ernst and Young both have a presence in Times Square. Legal firm Lehman Brothers and media company Reuters are also there within the same area.

Park Avenue

The final prominent business area within Midtown Manhattan is Park Avenue, which is located east from Madison Avenue and acts as a major through-road for north and south traffic within Manhattan. Park Avenue is synonymous with up-market real estate as it is goes through the Upper East Side area, and is also home to many skyscrapers belonging to corporate giants such as Citigroup, JP Morgan, Philip Morris and Colgate Palmolive. Other prominent buildings located along Park Avenue would be the Bankers Trust Building at 280 Park Avenue, the Rudin Tower and the MetLife Building. Due to the prestigious name of Park Avenue, various world-famous and best hotels are located long this road. These would include hotels such as the Vanderbilt hotel, the 70 Park Avenue Hotel, Grand Hyatt and the Clarion Hotel.

Further towards the east of Park Avenue is the location of the United Nations Complex. As the headquarters of the United Nations, this area between First Avenue and East 42nd Street does not belong to the United States, and is regarded as international property. The complex consists of 4 buildings, with the highest building being the Secretariat building that consists of 39 floors standing at 544 feet. Apart from that, the design of this building was conceptualized by a committee of 10 architects appointed by the United Nations, and thus an international style was selected. The exterior of the building is prominently consisting of blue-green grass marble, which was the first of its type in New York. Another building within this complex is the 5-storey General Assembly Building, which has a seating capacity to fit 1800 international representatives. The remaining two buildings are the Conference building and the Dag Hammarskjold Library, with a small public park located in front of the East River.

Downtown Brooklyn

The third largest business district within New York City is the business district within Downtown Brooklyn. Brooklyn is located south east of the Manhattan borough, connected by the Brooklyn and Manhattan bridges, and contains a relatively large residential area. Downtown Brooklyn however is located at the north western section of the Brooklyn borough, which is also named as the City of Brooklyn. Indeed, the line of business buildings including the Civic Center, the Fulton Mall, the Borough Hall, the New York Transit Museum and the post office. With this, Downtown Brooklyn serves as a viable alternative for a virtual office or office space with relatively lower rental rates as compared to the Downtown and Midtown Manhattan areas.

Madison Midtown

The Madison Midtown stretch consists mainly of commercial buildings such as the Sony Building and the 41 floor IBM building at 590 Madison Avenue, the former Newsweek building at 444 Madison Avenue and the Sony building at 550 Madison Avenue.
Probably the street with the most prestige within Midtown Manhattan, and possibly the entire New York City would be Fifth Avenue. Synonymous with expensive real estate and a symbol of the wealthy in New York, Fifth Avenue lies to the west of Madison Avenue and stretches from Washington Square Park in the north through Greenwich, Upper East Side and all the way down to Harlem and the Bronx.
Apart from being a fashion center, Fifth Avenue is also home to a string of landmark buildings associated with New York. The transmission tower on top of the Empire State Building broadcasts many transmissions for a string of major television and radio stations within the area of New York. The Empire State Building has also been regarded as “the most valuable building in American broadcasting” which is why entertainment related businesses with big names such as RCA, FOX Television and Time Warner Communications.
The Rockefeller center is also located within Fifth Avenue, between 48th Street and 51st street of New York. With this, the GE building is also sometimes known as the Slab, as well as an art decor icon within New York City.

The International Building of Rockefeller center was initially produced by John D. Rockefeller with an aim to attract foreign businesses to set up centers in New York during the Depression era. This building of 41 stories high with an externally striped exterior with various setbacks is similar to the design of the neighboring RCA building. In line with Rockefeller’s dream of attracting foreign investors, the art deco of the building had been designed with European design themes, which is why there are 4 lower buildings – The British Empire Building, the Palais de France, the Palazzo D’Italia and the Deutsches Haus. Explicably a building that is the work of art, various sculptures from these various cultures are found in the vicinity of these buildings, including the famous Lee Lawrie’s sculpture Atlas.

Additionally, this building also underwent an extension to replace the lower buildings with office towers with similar designs to the main building. Another interesting building within the Rockefeller Center is the Time-Warner Building and is occupied primarily by the Time Warner Company. Originally, this building was built for the Esso Oil Company in 1947, and was the first tallest air-conditioned building at that time.

World Financial Center

Beyond Wall Street lies the World Financial Center, a complex of buildings housing offices to some world renowned financial companies such as Dow Jones & Co., Fidelity Investments, Lehman Brothers, Deloitte and Touche, American Express and Merrill Lynch. This center located just opposite the former site of the world trade center is composed of six buildings: One World Financial Center, Two World Financial Center, Three World Financial Center, Four World Financial Center, Winter Garden and NYMEX building.

world trade center (Ground zero)

Ground Zero, the former site of the World Trade Center, is an area as large as 15 football fields, and has been set for rebuilding through Project Rebirth. At this site, building plans have already been approved to be built here, with Memory Foundations named as the master plan for the site. Among the buildings planned for this site is the Freedom Tower, which is to be constructed at 1776 feet with architecture resembling that of the Statue of Liberty. Additionally, another building here will be the World Trade Center Cultural Center, which will be the venue for the visitor’s center, the International Freedom Center as well as The Drawing Center. A memorial for the World Trade Center, occupying an area of 4.7 acres will be located at the south-western section of the site. Other than that, another building constructed here will be the 7 World Trade Center, planned to be the first building to be completed at Ground Zero in March 2006. This building will be an engineering feat, composing of the latest technological and engineering advancements used in its construction. Additionally, this building is designed to be 10 stories higher than its predecessor, and already has leasing agreements with American Express Financial Advisors as its first tenant. Furthermore, in addition to Freedom Tower, there will also be Towers Two, Three, Four and Five planned for the site, aimed to provide total office space of 10 million square feet in total. It will be an incredible location for your office space or your virtual office once the Freedom tower will be ready.

Lower Manhattan

Other prominent areas within the financial district of Lower Manhattan are the 21 acre Battery Park, the City Hall and the South Street Seaport, a prominent shopping and tourist area. This tourist attraction is center to over 100 shops, cafes and restaurants and also includes a maritime museum. Thus, if you are seeking an office for a business within the tourism industry, this would be a good location for your virtual office or an office space.

Other famous landmarks worth mentioning within Lower Manhattan include the Federal Hall National Memorial located on 26 Wall Street, the Brooklyn Bridge, the New York Harbor, the United States Customs House and the Fulton Fish Market.

The extended area within Lower Manhattan would include neighborhoods such as the Lower East Side, which is considered a lower class and slum neighborhood, the Five Points area, another slum inhabited mostly by people of Irish and African decent, SoHo, which is short for South of Houston Street, Chinatown, Houston Street and TriBeCa, short for Triangle Below Canal Street.

Upper Manhattan

The northern section of Manhattan is known as Upper Manhattan and is considerably less busy than other parts of Manhattan. This area includes neighborhoods such as Harlem and Washington Heights. Basically a residential area with a high-crime rate and less tourist friendly nature, this area encompasses the panhandle of Manhattan Island at the west of Harlem River and consists mostly of homes and less of major commercial buildings.

Midtown Manhattan

Midtown Manhattan is essentially the mid section areas in between Upper Manhattan and Lower Manhattan. This is another busy area within New York City, being the Central Business District of New York essentially larger than the financial district of Lower Manhattan. With this, Midtown Manhattan is roughly designated as the area between the northern boundary of 40th Street and the southern boundary of 59th Street, and between the Third Avenue and Ninth Avenue as the East and West boundaries respectively.

Midtown Manhattan is one of the busiest areas within New York, and also has the most number of skyscrapers within New York City. This is probably why this area is the workplace for close to 3 million workers in a myriad of industries, including tourism, hospitality, food and beverage, education and retail. Amidst these activities, there are also clusters of residential buildings and apartments within this area, which contributes to the variety of Midtown Manhattan.

One of the main streets within Midtown Manhattan is Madison Avenue that runs from the north at Madison Square and ends at Madison Avenue Bridge at the south. With this, Madison Avenue goes through the Upper East Side of New York and the Harlem area. The whole stretch of Madison Avenue is basically divided into four main portions – Madison Midtown, Historic District, Museum District and Carnegie Hill.

New York Virtual Office & Office Space

New York City Virtual Business Center

New York City is the commercial capital of the United States and has been regarded one of the principal centers of international trade in the world. Home to Wall Street, one of the most influential stock exchanges in the world, New York is also the key financial centers of the world. Although the key focus of New York is being a financial district, this city is center to a myriad of other business industries such as transportation, business services, information technology, distribution, manufacturing and fashion.

This huge city is home a population of 8 million residing within the city area producing a gross metropolitan product of $488 billion in 2003, making New York one of the largest economies in the world. Thus, New York is also known as the city that never sleeps, and is a concentration of the talent in human resources as well as having a transportation network with a train network of 4000 miles altogether, successfully ferrying 75% of New Yorkers around the city and to its suburbs as well.

Geographically, New York City is divided into 5 main areas: Manhattan, the Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island. Manhattan is the downtown New York which is where the Central Business District is located. The other five areas are essentially neighborhoods that comprise of diverse cultures and ethnic groups, each of which has its own unique identity.

Manhattan virtual office

Manhattan is the place where all the main action is with key areas such as Broadway, the Empire State Building, Chinatown, New York University and Central Park. Essentially, Manhattan is divided into two core city areas, southern Manhattan generally known as downtown, and northern Manhattan generally known as uptown. Similarly, Fifth Avenue divides Manhattan into East and West portions, which is why the street numbering system in Manhattan are designated as east and west streets.

With this, there are two major financial districts within Manhattan – the financial district in Lower Manhattan and the business district in Midtown Manhattan. Lower Manhattan is located in downtown New York City, approximately designated as the location south of Barclay Street. Here is where one of New York’s finest financial districts are located, with prominent the New York Stock Exchange, City Hall and the former site of the World Trade Center.

The New York Stock Exchange is one of the greatest equities market in the United States and also internationally. With about 2800 companies listed in NYSE, it is the leading and most advanced exchange in the world. Thus, it’s location on the corner of Broad Street and Wall Street within Lower Manhattan is truly strategic, and brings up the prestige of Wall Street as an international financial center. This is probably why the entire stretch of Wall Street is lined with buildings housing financial institutions, including the Trump Building, the Deutsche Bank Building, Bank of Manhattan and the Bank of New York. Apart from that, many buildings are named by their unit number, for example 40 Wall Street, which is a 71 storey skyscraper, is also known as the Trump Building. There are many other buildings within Wall Street itself such as the Woolworth Building, which is a 60 storey skyscraper, one of the oldest within New York City. This is why those who are running a business related to the financial industry, having a virtual office or an office space within Wall Street will provide an elevated sense of prestige to the company.
